Trivia About That Mighty Sculp There is an abiding pathos in these books, more so being this is a posthumous collection. Beautiful, thoughtful writing – particularly loved the one about Spain, “Andalusia, or the Hesperides,” written around the time she was writing Memoirs of Hadrian.
Yourcenar has a preoccupation with personal mortality and the impermanence of things.
