So even though I think it’s a good book, it’s not as practical as a direct website and some of it’s cases are pretty old – but it covers a lot more cases than some interfacws with those specs.

Lynch Limited preview – It features real-live examples from desktop applications, web sites, web applications, mobile devices, and everything in between. A must for someone looking to excel in Interaction design field. Now that I’m done reading it, I can easily see myself referring back to this book when I have a problem, or want some inspiration or new ideas. The proof is the majority of inteffaces that are hard or unpleasant to tidwfll with.
Each pattern contains practical advice that you can put to use immediately, plus a variety of examples illustrated in full color.

Though I’ve referred back to Tidwell less and less over the years, it may be simply because I learned so much from her ideas. The book encompasses certain aspects of Interfaces but leaves the readers craving for more patterns.

All in all, a nice read for someone who has a decent knowledge of Interface designing and interface usability. Experienced designers can use it as a sourcebook of ideas. As many other people have mentioned, this book is a great list of Design Patterns.

This is a good book to start with while learning designing interfaces. More of a reference book of about UI patterns, not something to read cover to cover. Each chapter’s introduction describes key design concepts that are often misunderstood, such as affordances, visual hierarchy, navigational distance, and the use of color. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read.
